Domestic Violence

Domestic violence cases are difficult cases for a prosecutor because of the personal relationship between victims and the accused.  Many allegations are difficult to verify, or completely false.

If you are convicted of Domestic Violence, you may be ordered to attend domestic violence or anger management counseling, sentenced up to 6 months in jail for a petty misdemeanor, or 1 year in jail for a full misdemeanor, up to 18 months in prison for a fourth degree felony, or up to 3 years in prison for a third degree felony.  You can also be subject to fines and or probation.
