General Misdemeanors

Generally, there are two types of misdemeanors, a petty misdemeanor and a full misdemeanor.  A petty misdemeanor can carry up to 6 months of jail time, and a full misdemeanor can carry up to 1 year of jail time.

City code violations, which are lesser misdemeanor offenses, may carry up to 90 days of jail time.  City code violations consist of: disorderly conduct, failure to obey, assault, battery, minor in possession, possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked license, or shoplifting.
